What Has Your Story Told You?

Understanding Trauma & How We Heal

Trauma is much more than a single, dramatic event; it is the lasting impact that a deeply distressing experience leaves behind on your mind, body, and spirit. When we experience an overwhelming childhood or adult event, our brain tries to protect us by learning a “lesson” or creating a story about how to stay safe. Over time, these protective habits can create havoc in your current daily life—showing up as chronic anxiety, depression, sleepless nights, relationship struggles, or a reliance on addictions to numb the pain.
Healing isn’t about ignoring the past; it’s about safely processing what the trauma left behind. Because trauma impacts multiple layers of who you are, I utilize an integrative, specialized approach tailored specifically to your needs:
    • Story-Informed Trauma Therapy: Together, we look at the overarching narrative of your life to understand why you react to certain triggers, helping you dismantle the old, painful scripts you’ve been handed.
    • EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing): An evidence-based technique that helps your brain reprocess stuck, distressing memories so they lose their emotional charge.
    • Somatic Therapy: Trauma lives deeply in our physiology. By tuning into your bodily sensations, we help your nervous system release stored stress and move out of survival mode.

If you find yourself feeling stuck, highly anxious, or unhappy with how you are functioning, you don’t have to navigate the confusion alone. We will use these powerful tools—and plenty of compassion—to help you reclaim your daily life.

With any trauma, it leaves behind a story that will affect our decision-making. This could lead to various addictions. Through understanding our story we can make the changes we desire and stop the behaviors that are causing issues in our lives.

Anxiety

Anxiety can be a direct result in trauma. It is a natural trauma response but it can get in the way at times.

Relationship Issues

Trauma causes stress and anxiety and that will spill over to our personal relationships. Here is the good part, it does not have to.
